IUCN Red List 2008: Threatened Primates by Family and Region
These tables summarize the threat status for primates in each of their four biogeographic regions, subdivided by family. Each value represents the number of taxa (species and subspecies) which qualify for a particular threat category in that region.
The IUCN threat categories presented here include Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN), Vulnerable (VU), Near Threatened (NT), Least Concern (LC), Data Deficient (DD), and Not Evaluated (NE); each of these categories is defined below the following tables.

Category Definitions
As defined by the IUCN, the threat categories are as follows:
Critically Endangered (CR) — the taxon (species or subspecies) faces an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.
Endangered (EN) — the taxon faces a very high risk of going extinct in the wild.
Vulnerable (VU) — the taxon faces a high risk of extinction in the wild.
Near Threatened (NT) — although not currently threatened, the taxon is very close to qualifying for threatened status.
Least Concern (LC) — the taxon does not qualify for threatened status; may be declining, but still widespread and abundant.
Data Deficient (DD) — there is not enough information to make a decision about the taxon's status. Please note this is not an assessment of its status per se, but rather of the inadequacy of the available data, and a species or subspecies listed as DD may still be in serious danger.
Not Evaluated (NE) — usually applied to recently described forms, this marks a taxon that has not yet been assessed.
